Major side effects of penicillin are nausea, chest pain vomiting and headache.
Amoxicillin has few advantages over penicillin because of longer plasma life and lower protein binding activity. Amoxicillin has side effects like rashes and gastrointestinal problems. Chewable tablets of amoxicillin are also available, adults are given 500mg of tablets which should be taken thrice everyday for 10 days.
