A women can opt for abortion for several reasons. It  can be due to unplanned pregnancy, premarital pregnancy or if there is some problem in the fetus and several other reasons. Ectopic Pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy refers to a condition when the embryo gets implanted outside the uterus mostly in the fallopian tube. In this case abortion is the only solution as the fetus cannot grow to a complete child outside the uterus. It can be highly fatal and may result in reduced fertility.


The chances of cancer increases almost by 2 times in women who have abortion once, while it increases to 3 times in women who had abortion two times. Major types of cancer which are related to abortion cervical, liver, ovarian and breast cancer.

Sexual Complications

You may have several sex related problems post abortion. It is one of the most common side effects. You may have excess pain during sex and loose pleasure from intercourse. You won’t have the urge to have sex and have an aversion to sex.


The risk of infections especially in the uterus and cervix increases in women who have abortion. This is mostly caused if the procedure is not done properly. You may also have bleeding and suffer from pain which may last for several weeks. Other severe complications might arise due to the infection in future.

Abortion has always been a controversial issue, whether it should be allowed or not. Many couples go for abortion only because of social pressure. There are several reasons for abortion and if it is necessary you should go for it, not due to social pressure or professional commitments.

The best way to avoid the risks of abortion is to take ample precautions during sex if you don’t want to conceive child. However, you should know there are no methods which provide full proof protection. Even if you are going for abortion make sure to do it as early as possible because the complications increases at later stages.
