What causes Type 2 diabetes? Is a general query of patients suffering from Diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is caused when the body is unable to respond to the level of insulin in the blood which is caused because insulin receptors do not function properly in the diabetic person. In this case pancreas functions properly and releases appropriate amount of insulin required by the body. This condition is also called as insulin resistance. As a result the glucose level in the body increases.
What is Diabetes:
Diabetes refers to the situation in which the blood sugar level increases. Insulin is produced by pancreas and when it stops producing insulin or produces insufficient amount of insulin then it leads to lack of insulin in the body and it causes type 1 Diabetes.
What is Type 2 Diabetes:
Type 2 Diabetes is more common form of diabetes and almost 80% cases of diabetes come under type 2 diabetes and to understand what causes type 2 diabetes, it is important to understand how insulin controls the glucose level in the blood. When we eat food then glucose is released in the blood which acts as a source of energy to the muscle tissues.
Glucose has to move inside the cells of the tissues in order to generate energy. Insulin controls the level of glucose in the blood by ensuring appropriate amount of glucose enters the cells and is converted to energy. However, due to lack of insulin or if the body is insulin resistance which means body is unable to respond to the insulin level then the glucose level in the blood increases because the patient’s body is unable to break down the glucose to energy because glucose can’t enter the tissue cells. Due to this glucose gets accumulated in the blood and causes type2 diabetes.
